I remember a big family picnic at Assiniboine Park organized by Grandma Wedel. After lunch, we were all walking in the park. Dave and Elsie were strolling along ahead of the pack of kids gathered around Grandma, holding hands. Grandma told us all to look at that old married couple, still holding hands and in love after all these years. That was Uncle Dave. A gentle and loving husband. He was my roll model on how to behave whenever my temper started to run away with me, and I am often brought up short by a quick memory flash of him. When I retired and made a big foray into the Bible, over the years I had several little conversations with Uncle Dave. He listened quietly to whatever I was saying and then gave just the right comment or question to keep me on track. His seemingly bottomless well of faith and knowledge was encouraging and inspiring. When he opened his eyes in Heaven and looked into the face of Jesus, I think he might have given one of his little smiles. - Posted by: Richard Wedel (Nephew) on: Aug 19, 2023
