We are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved mom, grandma, sister and auntie, Judy Canty of Abbotsford BC.
Judy was born in Souris, Manitoba on June 26, 1945. She attended South Brandon and Kemnay schools before the family moved to Brandon where Judy attended Composite High School. In the 1960s Judy and her sister decided to see Canada. Judy lived in Regina, Calgary, High River, Edmonton, Penticton, Ottawa and Winnipeg before she was 25 years old. Edmonton was her home for several years before moving back to Calgary when her dad got sick. In 1981 Judy, her daughter Meghan, and her mom Evelyn, moved to Vernon, BC. Judy lived there for 30 years where she worked at the Vernon Women's Transition House. She relocated to Abbotsford in 2011 to be with family.
Judy is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Meghan and Brent Domonkos, and beloved grandsons Carter and Malcolm of Abbotsford; sister Kathy Hourie of Winnipeg; sister in-laws Lorraine Canty of Calgary and Karen Canty of Brandon; nieces and nephews David, Darcy, Michelle, Holly, Carrie, Michael, Ryan, Kristin and Kelly, and their families.
Judy was predeceased by her parents William (Bill) and Evelyn Canty, and brothers William (Bill) and Herbert (Herb) Canty.
Judy was especially proud of her two grandsons and she cherished her time with them. Her love of books and family traditions will be lovingly remembered.
In honouring her wishes cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Judy’s Life will be held at a later date in Abbotsford BC.
