EDITH MAVIS MANNING

December 7, 1935 - July 2, 2023

A dear friend and loving aunt, Mavis Manning was lost to us suddenly at the St. Boniface Hospital due to heart problems.

Mavis now rejoins her parents, Thomas and Edith Manning, her sister and brother-in-law Jean Chambers (Clifford), her brother Denys Manning (Joyce), nephew Geoff and beloved friend Rae as well as her dear cat Cooper and her many wonderful dogs.

Left to mourn Mavis’ passing are her nephew Merv Chambers (Donna) and her niece Jackie Murray of London, England. Also missing Mavis are her many dear friends and her loving cat Lucky.

Mavis was born in Bradford, Yorkshire, England. She moved to Canada following her sister and her family. Mavis first worked for Manitoba Telephone System. Then she became a dental hygienist with the City of Winnipeg school system for many years cleaning and teaching good dental hygiene to the children.

Mavis lived a life full of commitments to others, bettering the lives of family and friends and neighbours as best she could all through an extension of her faith.

Things Mavis loved were singing in the choir at St. Mary’s Anglican Church and later watching church services on TV. She volunteered many years with organizations such as Winnipeg Humane Society, Charleswood Community Centre, MWRO, Craig Street Cats and many others. Also, she rescued and fostered many puppies with help of her precious dogs, Star and Britany.

Mavis especially enjoyed her lunch dates with friends. She always was a caring person who offered her support no matter what.

As per Mavis’ request cremation has taken place and will be no formal service.
