Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBETTY JOSEPHINE JOHNSON
Our mother, Betty Josephine Johnson peacefully passed away in Lethbridge, Alberta on August 13, 2023, at the age of 98. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Gerald (Jerry) Johnson, in 2001.
She is survived by her sons, Greg (Rosemary) of Calgary, Grant (Sheri) of Winnipeg, and her daughter, Christine (John) of Lethbridge. She was a proud grandmother to Christopher (Suzanne), Jennifer (Trevor) and Matthew (Shawna), as well as five great-grandchildren, Blair, Zoey, Charlie, Kyler and Emmett.
Mom spent years of being a stay-at-home mom before embarking on a career in retail. Her journey eventually led her to become an Educational Assistant for the St. James-Assiniboia School Division, until her retirement.
Later, they moved to Gimli, MB, embracing the joys of retirement. Following Dad's passing, Mom moved to Lethbridge, Alberta, where she actively engaged with numerous senior groups, winning tournaments for cribbage, choir, lawn bowling and curling. Loving her life in Lethbridge, she formed enduring friendships and created cherished memories along the way.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to AdaptaCare (Lethbridge) for their great care and compassion. A special acknowledgement and thanks goes to her close friend, Marvin Kirchner and his dog, Piper.
Mom, we love you and you will be deeply missed, but your enduring love and spirit will forever reside in the hearts of those who knew you.
Mom will be interred at a later date alongside her husband in Gimli, Manitoba, a final journey symbolizing the love they shared.

Just found Betty's Obit today. I had been thinking of Betty for a long time and now this... Betty was such a wonderful person, so smart, caring, generous, refined, and she always had an encouraging word for us. Betty could make almost anything come into reality. Her love of art, her business sense and genuine heart is what we feel made Betty so loved by so many. I loved Betty❤️ And I have always missed spending time with her after she moved to Lethbridge. It was so great to have travelled there to see her the times we could. Barry and I remember the many exciting years spent with Jerry and Betty in Gimli and Winnipeg. The many dinners and fun times at their home in Gimli and ours, the events at the hotel, the laughs and weighty discussions, and the tears when Jerry passed. All these and so many more memories. Jerry was a magnificent artist and teacher, and oh how they both completed each other so amazingly. Such beautiful memories, Barry and I will always look back on our time spent with them with much love Now they are both together again. So sorry Chris, Greg, and Grant and all the family for missing the announcement back in August 2023. How magical life is to have brought everyone together for that time I am sure you miss Mom still. Thinking of you all and sending our love, Bonita and Barry - Posted by: Bonita and Barry (Friend ) on: Oct 28, 2024

My condolences to Betty's family, especially Grant. My husband Ron and I and Jerry and Betty were friends many years ago when we lived in Gimli. We shared many a cup of coffee or a meal and many conversations, and many laughs and sometimes controversies. May her soul rest in peace. She was such a gracious lady and I admired her. - Posted by: Eva M Haddad (Friend) on: Aug 26, 2023
