CAROLIN DONNA MAE VERGNANO

(nee ANDERSON)

September 26, 1942 - August 16, 2023

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Donna on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at her cottage surrounded by family, as she wanted.

Donna will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by husband Guy, of 53 years, son Shawn, daughter Lisa (Steve) and grandson Brady. She will also be missed by sister Helen and brothers, Lorne, Calvin and Bruce (Lynn), sisters-in-law, Margaret and Lucie, brother-in-law Leo (Donna) and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Donna was predeceased by parents, Alex and Minnie Anderson, in-laws, Felix and Gilberte Vergnano, brothers, Mervyn, Ross, Edwin, Franklin and sisters, Bernice and Erma.

Donna was born and raised in Victoria Beach, Manitoba. She attended school at the beach and worked at the Moonlight Inn and Saffie’s Store. She worked various jobs before starting employment for Canada Revenue Agency until her retirement. She made many friendships through those years. Donna enjoyed curling and baseball in her younger years then bingo, casino, card and board games became her passion.

Though she lived and raised her family in Winnipeg, Victoria Beach was home. Most weekends you would find her back at the house she grew up in then later when Shawn and Lisa both built their cottages in Hillside Beach, that is where you would find her. She was an active member and volunteer in both the Merry Makers and the Victoria Beach Sports Club.

Brady was her true pride and joy. Nana could not go too many days without wanting to see him. They were busy making smoothies, playing board games and just spending time together - making memories. She adored her grandson.

From your nieces and nephews, we will miss your sharp comments "Auntie G".

Goodbye mom, we are so sad to see you go but we know you will always be close. Watching over us and smiling. You will always be in our hearts and what great memories we have. We all love you.

As per Donna's wishes cremation has taken place and no funeral service will be held.

If you wish, donations may be made in Donna's memory to the Alex Anderson Memorial Sports Club, Box 160, Victoria Beach, MB, ROE 2C0.

God bless, we will miss you.

  • I remember Donna well, and in the fondest way. I grew up at Victoria Beach and spent a lot of time around her and my cousin Eileen Ateah, who was her good friend. Donna was always a pleasant, kind and gentle person......my whole family thought very highly of her. She was a very dear soul and will be sadly missed. - Posted by: garry david (friend) on: Aug 26, 2023
