Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHEATHER TURNEY
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Heather on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at the age of 74.
Remaining to forever cherish Heather's memory are her loving husband Dennis; her children, Shane (Stacey) and Charlene (Andrew); stepchildren, Tannis (Trevor) and Angelina (Myles); grandchildren, Chelsey (Jay), Jonnie (Matt), Shelby, Eric, Madison, Kennedy, Ariana, Carter and Josh; great-granddaughter Kylie; sister Charlene (Steve), brothers, Kelly and Scott; niece Kathy; great-nieces, Mercedes, Taylor, and Heather, and innumerable cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Harold and Ruth, and her brother Timmy.
Born and raised in the North End of Winnipeg, Heather was the eldest of five children. She remained close with her parents, even living next-door to them on Saint Cross Street for many years. She later moved to St. James with her family where she remained for the rest of her life. Heather and Dennis met as teenagers but reconnected and married later in life. They would have celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary this New Year's Eve.
Dubbed "The Lube Queen" (and rightly so), Heather managed the Super Lube on Portage Avenue for over 35 years. She took pride in going to work every day and did so up until very recently. She knew all of her customers by first name and would often make the 10-minute oil change turn into 30, because she simply had to catch up with them. Her management style was all support, with a dash of structure, and an incredible sense of belonging! Many of her co-workers and employees became lifelong friends, and some even more like family. She will be sorely missed by her long-time staff, Joey, Dallas, John, Doug, Wilfred, and many more. To say her presence will be missed in the community is an understatement.
Heather loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, all of whom she was extremely proud of. She never missed a birthday or Christmas and spared no expense with her gift giving and generosity to those around her. Heather loved the simple things, like trinkets from the dollar store or spending endless hours doing crafts. Her unique way of telling stories and sense of humour will be cherished and missed by all.
Whether you knew her as "The Lube Queen" or "Grandma Super Lube, everyone was "Dear" to her. She will be missed greatly, but not forgotten.
A celebration of Heather's life will be held at a later date.

Put on a happy face"

When family starts to pass it really stinks. Even though I only seen my cousin a few times a year, I thought about her a lot more that that. She and my parents were VERY close back in the day. This hurts; a lot. - Posted by: Kevin Carrol (Cousin ) on: Sep 19, 2023

Dearest Heather, I met you only once and was looking forward to many more family gatherings, chats, celebrations, and your hospitable nature. You welcomed me into your heart from the first; I will truly miss you beautiful. I know that you are free of fear and pain wherever your spirit has landed. Until we all meet again beauty. - Posted by: Denise Kennedy (Step-Daughter) on: Sep 06, 2023

Heather was always ready to welcome my wife and I when we stopped in to get our oil changed. Heather and I shared many memories when we went to High School together. I was not ready for the sudden news of Heather passing away. Heather's devoted working family at Super Lube were very saddened when they shared the news of her sudden passing. I know that Heather's immediate family will need to find the time to spend together to heal the space that Heather has left them. We will remember Heather's sense of humor and her honestly. It will not be the same place without her. We have had this time to know Heather for all these years and we will miss her. Heaven was made for people like you Heather. - Posted by: Tom Cancilla (Friend) on: Sep 06, 2023
