After a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s, Stew peacefully passed away, surrounded by family, in Kelowna.
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Elsie, his wife Jan, Jan’s daughter Heather and Stew’s nephew, Blair. He is survived by his brothers, Bob (Maureen) and Bruce (Valerie), his niece Michelle (Jason), Jan’s son David (Danielle) and Jan’s granddaughter Winter.
Stew grew up in Winnipeg and graduated from Kelvin High School where he enjoyed a stellar high school football career which he continued with the Fort Garry Junior Lions football club.
In the fall Stew was an enthusiastic bird hunter spending many hours in the fields and marshes.
Stew cherished the memories of the family cottage at Winnipeg Beach so much so that later he purchased a cottage there that he co-owned with his brother Bruce.
In 2003 Stew and Jan moved to Victoria enjoying the coastal weather with plenty of golf. Stew became a member of the local chapter of the Camosun Gyro Club of Victoria and served on the executive for three years. He was President from 2008 to 2009. They thoroughly enjoyed many trips organized by the Club.
Stew enjoyed a long successful business career as a Manufacturer’s Agent travelling extensively across Canada.
Stew was a kind, generous, humble and loyal individual.
We would like to thank the wonderful, caring personnel at Mountainview Care Home where Stew spent the last few years of his life.
