PHILIP MALTZ

Philip Maltz passed away September 3, 2023.

He is survived by his daughter Sharon Maltz; son-in-law Howard Jesierski; grandsons, Matthew, Ryan and Michael Jesierski; sister Anne Pshaenich; nephew Chuck Pshaenich, niece Melanie Pshaenich and cousins in Winnipeg, Ottawa, Toronto, Chicago and New York. He was predeceased by his wife Miriam Maltz; his parents, Max and Sally Malz; his infant brother Shalom; his brother-in-law Alvin Pshaenich; and his cousins, Jean and Max Ruder.

Phil was born in Winnipeg on April 3, 1927. He attended Aberdeen School and graduated from St. John’s High School. He attended the University of Manitoba, and worked with his father operating Paris Furs. After his father’s death, Phil returned to the U of M and became a certified general accountant. He spent most of his career as the administrator of the Mall Medical Clinic. He was very proud of his role there.

Phil’s interests included hockey and football, and he was a season ticket holder for both the Jets and Bombers for many years. He took up running and was an early member of the Reh Fit Centre, and enjoyed swimming and visiting with his friends at the Rady JCC.

Phil and Miriam enjoyed travelling. They frequently visited their relatives in the US and travelled to Israel, Hawaii, England and France.

Phil and Miriam resided at River Ridge Retirement Residence. Since 2018 Phil resided at the Simkin Centre. Many thanks to the staff for their compassionate care and to his companion Edison, who looked after him with such kindness and dedication.
