BRENDAN MAHATOO

The family of the late Brendan Mahatoo, who passed May 29, 2023, would like to extend their sincere gratitude for the thoughtfulness and love received during these trying months. While these days have been the darkest of our lives, the support, prayers, cards, meals, flowers, and many gestures of love we received from those who loved and cared for Brendan have made a world of difference.
Thank you all for sharing your memories, stories, and pictures with us. We encourage you to continue sharing the positive memories, and keep his memory alive by loving one another, doing good for those around you, and living life to the fullest.
The entirety of the proceeds collected through GoFundMe for the establishment of the Brendan Mahatoo Scholarship Fund at the University of Manitoba have been submitted to the Faculty of Law. We are proud to announce that the $36,000 raised will support a deserving law student each academic year at Robson Hall, in perpetuity.
Half of Brendan's final remains have been interred at the Glenn Lawn Cremation Garden, to be close to his Grandparents. The other half was taken to Lake of the Woods to be with his father, the late Dr. Harold Mahatoo.
Brendan's departure has left an indescribable void in our hearts, but we are comforted knowing that his legacy lives on through each of those who loved him. Honour him by keeping the magic alive in your lives, and remember that happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if only one remembers to turn on the light.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • "Good tree produce good seeds". He was brilliant and hard working, it is great that the family are doing his legacy and turning the light on for others by fundraising and sharing beautiful words after he passed. We wish his mom and other loved ones of him comfort from God and heaven for him. - Posted by: Yared and Fiori (Neighbors) on: Sep 17, 2023

  • Brendan was our neighbour in Kenora. He was such a bright little star, a delight to be around. Whenever he saw you his little voice could be heard ...hello!! with a big smile. His dad Herald was also a kind gentle man. A few years ago I went to see Brendan at his downtown office. I was blown away how he grew into an amazing human being. Bright handsome sweet man. I could still see the little boy I knew across the desk all those years ago. I thought we would all have lots of time to all reconnect at his moms. My sons Jamie, Scott and their dad Michael were all very sad by the news of our little friend nextdoor. We are all thinking of your family and will keep Brendan's memory alive🙏 Love always to Sherry, Navi and family♡ - Posted by: Susie (neighbour in Kenora Ontario) on: Sep 16, 2023
