MARY ANN MCDONELL

August 29, 1950 - September 2, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mom and grandmother.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Shauna-Lee (Rudi) and Chrystal (Ben), grandchildren, Luka, Julien, and Bijoux, siblings, Angus (Lee), Ron (Brenda), Darlene, Caroline (Stephen), many nieces and nephews, and dear friends, the Ferbraché family. She was predeceased by her parents, Edith and Angus McDonell and her brother Dennis (Val).

Mary Ann's greatest joys were her children and grandchildren, to whom she was the best mom and grandma/gaggy. We will all miss her kind and generous nature.
Although we knew we couldn't keep you here forever, we hoped you could stay for longer, still, longer would never be long enough. As we try to make peace with your passing, we clutch on to the memories and the love you have given us and know that you are always with us.
A private Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.

Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • MaryAnn was a kind and generous soul. She was one of those very rare people that was happy to live for others, endlessly sacrificing her time to be helpful and giving. She led a simple life, devoted to her children and grandchildren. I cannot count the times when my grandchildren, Julien and Bijoux, were telling me delightfully that they were, or had been, at “Gaggy’s” for a sleepover. Those weekend adventures meant as much for Gaggy, I suspect, as they did for the grandchildren. She had endless energy and devotion for those she loved, and was greatly loved in return. We will all miss MaryAnn. I extend my deepest sorrow and condolences to Chrystal, Ben, and all their family. - Posted by: Colin Lount (Son in law’s father) on: Sep 17, 2023

  • My sister Mary Ann was truly a very loving, helping & giving person who cared greatly for her family. Over the years she has helped me a lot. For many Christmas's when my sons were young and money was tight, she would have extra gifts & treats for the boys & us too. She made Christmas special for Steven & Shaun. I'll never be able to thank her enough for all she has done for us.💛💛💛 - Posted by: Mary Ann McDonell (Sister) on: Sep 16, 2023

  • Mary Ann and I were childhood friends. We grew up together on Midmar Avenue. My memories of her are all good ones. Condolences to her family. - Posted by: Heather McAvoy (Deans) (Childhood Friend ) on: Sep 16, 2023

  • My thoughts and prayers are with Mary Ann’s family. I met Mary Ann many years ago through the Ferbrache family. She was always super nice and chatted with me like I was around all the time. A while back, she invited us to the duelling pianos, as usual we enjoyed ourselves and unfortunately, that was the last time I had seen her. It was a happy time, so that is how I will remember her. Rest in paradise now Mary Ann, hugs De - Posted by: Delinda (De) (Friend ) on: Sep 16, 2023

  • Aunty Mary Anne was such a kind and loving woman. I will remember her great warm hugs and words of encouragement she had for all of her family's life endeavours. My heart is with my cousins and their children following her passing. May the strong family ties and deep love that Mary Ann gave you bring the strength you need to navigate this difficult time. - Posted by: Heather McDonell (Niece) on: Sep 16, 2023
