Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • Rest in peace my dear friend, alongside your beloved husband (Maurice). Back in 1982 I walked into 891 Wall Street looking for a job and was hired on the spot, since then our relationship continued. I will always remember us getting together at Red Lobster for dinner and of course a glass of white wine and most importantly our conversations. Thanks to you both! You will be missed 🙏. - Posted by: Maria Raposo (Friend) on: Sep 21, 2023

  • I have a lifetime of memories…Christmas Eve dinners at Mom and Dad’s place and, and in later years, at my place, New Year’s Day dinner at your home (how did you cook those spectacular meals in that tiny Woodhaven kitchen?!), camping trips all over Canada and the States, and your long hugs. I’m so glad we were able to share a few laughs together this summer. I asked you how you could stand travelling with all of us and you smiled and said, “I didn’t have my own kids so you were my family.” Yes, Dodie, you and Maurice were our family, too. - Posted by: Conni Cartlidge (Family friend) on: Sep 20, 2023

  • Although we moved to Ontario early in my life I will always remember Dodie as a wonderful family friend. Visits to Winnipeg and their visits to our hom in Ontario will always be cherished memories. Dear lifelong friends , Dodie and Maurice Francen , the Strongs, the Cartlidge’s and the Barrett’s set the example of time and distance matter little to great friends. The last of the group …. I hope they are all together again having a great game of Mahjong ! 💕🙏🏻 - Posted by: Darlyne Strong (Darlyne gayer of Friends Dave and Helen Strong & God daughter ) on: Sep 19, 2023

  • It’s the end of an era for the Strong, Cartlidge, Barrett & Francen families with your passing, Dodie. So many great memories of Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day dinners, rummoli games, camping experiences, ski doo rides, pinball games, Grey Cup parties… the list goes on and on. You’re like family to me, and will be sadly missed. Glad though that you’re able to be reunited with Maurice once again. - Posted by: Nancy Fontaine (Family friend) on: Sep 16, 2023

  • Dodie, I’ll remember you fondly as a close friend to my parents, Al and Mary (now deceased) and a trusted vacation traveller, you with Maurice, on the annual family summer road trips to sights and adventures across the US and Canada through my grade and high school years! Like a parent and aunt combined, you were almost always part of the Cartlidge family doings. Besides summer vacations together, you hosted and attended countless holiday meals and celebrated almost every family event with us, all while managing successful small businesses yourselves. Rest now with wonderful Maurice, missing you. - Posted by: Thora Cartlidge (Friends’ daughter) on: Sep 16, 2023

  • We will miss you dearly Dodie. Glad you are with Maurice. I will miss those yearly dinners on New Year’s Day with the Cartlidges and the Barrett families and your yummy green jello dessert you made. Dean & Nicolle (Barrett) - Posted by: Dean verrier (Friend of the family) on: Sep 16, 2023
