MATTHEW J. HOWDEN

August 20, 1974 - September 17, 2023

On a beautiful Sunday morning while the sun was shining and the sky was so blue, little did we know of the tragic loss we would have to endure. It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of a wonderful human being whose life ended far too soon. From an intelligent, compassionate young man not afraid to grab the world by the tail and run with it wherever it took him, to a journey into the unknown trying to navigate a path with so many life-altering afflictions. A mental illness (an assault on the brain - not a reflection of a weak character) as well as a progressive disc disease which was limiting his movement continually.

There are things we don't want to happen but have to accept, and people we can't live without but have to let go. We know we must carry on and live life to the fullest for Matt. He would expect nothing less.

Left to cherish his memory are mother Rosemary; brother Jason; step-father Len; step-brother Kai; nephew Joey/Anela; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, and their children and friends.

Predeceased by grandparents John and Mary Martin and Cliff and Doris Howden; uncle Roger; half-sister Onalea; friends Rodney and Donny; and best "furry" friend and loyal companion Tiber.

Respecting Matt's wishes, there will be no formal service. A private family memorial will be held at a later date.

With Matt's love of dogs and cats, if anyone wishes to make a donation in his name, please consider The Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, R3T 0R3.

May you be granted the peace
you deserve.
Love you, Matt
