DAVID ARTHUR SKINNER
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dave, at the age of 71, at Oakview Place Personal Care Home where he spent the last four months.
Dave will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Lori, of 42 years; daughter Carly and son-in-law Fred King, grandson Jack; daughter Krista and son-in-law Andrew Scheerschmidt, grandsons Austin and Kolton; his twin brother Paul and sister-in-law Marilyne and family; sister Janet; as well as many dear friends. Dave was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Olive Skinner and brothers Neil and Al.
Dave grew up in the West End and attended Principal Sparling and Daniel Mac. He worked in a few different jobs that eventually led him to the locksmith trade. Over time he became a Certified Master Locksmith and owned and operated Security Lock & Safe in St. James for over 30 years. He was well respected by industry peers and called upon on many occasions as a safe-opening specialist.
Dave was an expert handyman who loved to build things and figure out how to fix things. He took pleasure in all the projects he completed at our cabin at Grand Beach over the years. He also owned a ‘67 Barracuda for the last 15 years that he spent a lot of time restoring. His other passion was golf - many early morning rounds at Victoria Beach, 4 Brothers get-togethers, and his membership at Players after retirement.
We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the staff at Oakview Place. They are an amazing group of people who treated Dave with kindness, compassion, dignity, and respect.
In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to The Heart & Stroke Foundation, CancerCare Manitoba, or to a charity of your choice.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the coming weeks; details will be available at HunterFunerals.ca.
