HELEN GAUDREAU

(nee ST. PIERRE)

It is with utmost sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Helen Gaudreau. Helen passed peacefully in her sleep at the Concordia Hospital after a short fight with pneumonia.
At 90 years young, Helen led a long and full life. Helen was a daughter, sister, wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma, an auntie, great-auntie, and cousin. Full of spunk, love, and a strong sense of family, you knew you would always get the hard truth from her; she was not one to mince words or hold back. Her stubbornness was only matched by her love of her family and friends.
Helen was a simple woman, who took pleasure in the basic joys in life. Being in service most of her life, she was no stranger to hard work. As a single mom, Helen was known to make any and all sacrifices for her daughters in the name of love, she wanted better for her girls than she had. Sunday mass at Holy Cross Parish was where her faith was strongest, but with Covid, she was no longer able to attend. Many family dinners, babysitting her many grandkids and great-grandkids brought her happiness and a sense of purpose. In her later years, Helen found joy in colouring or word searches, visiting with her friends at Columbus Manor, or going for walks around the neighbourhood or to the dollar store to get chocolates.
Helen was predeceased by her parents, Alice and Frank St. Pierre; and her six sisters and their spouses, along with her two brothers and their spouses; her husband Paul; her daughters, Elaine and Judy; her son-in-law Jim; her granddaughter Erica and great-grand daughter Trinity. All of which were waiting to welcome her into God’s loving embrace.
She left behind her daughter and son-in-law Ellen and Don; and their children and grandchildren, Marni and Kent with Sophie and Nathan; Vanessa and Shawn with Destiny, Gavin, Skylar, Kaydence, and Ryker; Nick with daughter Vienna; Mark and Rachelle with Sadie and Sienna; Kevin and Caitlin with Octavia, Aurora, and Fabian. Also grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Cheyenne and Jamie with Harlow; Tiffany with Milo; and Derrick with Olivia and Malakai. Also her daughter’s brother, Keath and Kathy with Broedy and Ryon. There are many nieces, nephews, and cousins, too many to name being from such a large family. She loved them all, and they all love and miss her greatly.
Cremation has taken place, and a memorial mass will be held at St. Bernadette’s Parish, 820 Cottonwood Road on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow. All are welcome to come say their goodbyes.
