HERBERT WILFRED PERKIN
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Herb Perkin, at the age of 95 years.
Herb was predeceased by the love of his life, Laura, his daughters, Linda and Cheryl, and stepsons, Randy and Larry.
Left to mourn are his sister Doris Birchill, his children, Michael (Cindy), Patricia (John), Herbert Jr. (Betty), Shawn, Randy (Gisele), Karen; stepchildren, Ken(Irene), Connie, Rick, Deb (Andre), Melody (Brian), Candy (Kevin), 32 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren, and many extended family and friends.
In his late teens, Herb went to Germany and Belgium with R.C.A.F. to aid in Canada's post war efforts. He held several jobs, from chief cook and bottle washer (in his words) before he started working for New Flyer Industries where he spent 34plus years until his retirement. He married Laura in 1983, and during their 23 years of marriage before her passing in 2006, they shared a love that most people search their whole life for. Dad loved the simple things in life, and enjoyed spending time fishing, playing cards, penny BINGO or a nail biting game of Kinsmen bingo, and he was happiest doing these things with his family. He was jovial, always had a joke to tell, loved to belt out a Louis Armstrong song or two, and he could light up a room with his ocean blue eyes, and his devilish charm. He loved deeply, and wholeheartedly, and he will be missed by all who knew him.
The family thanks his home care team, and the wonderful staff at Park Manor who made his last days comfortable.
Funeral will take place on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St at 1:00 p.m.
Private family interment to follow at a later date

I worked at New Flyer with herb for a number of years. Herb was a true gentleman and one of the kindest people I have ever met. It always made my day when I had the chance to chat with him on the shop floor. - Posted by: Terry Zastre (Co worker) on: Nov 20, 2023

My most sincere and heartfelt condolences to Herbs dear friends and family. I worked with Herb for many years until his retirement. Today I am retired and reflect on those years of work and friendship. Herb was always a hard and conscientious worker who was liked by all who knew him. Although the days and years have gone by Herb will always be remembered as a friend and gracious co- worker.
