Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE ALLAN GLENDAY
On October 16, 2023, George Allan Glenday (87), of Winnipeg MB, passed away peacefully with his wife and daughter at his side.
George was predeceased by his brother Donald; sister Reta and his sons, Kevaughn and Ian Glenday. He leaves behind his wife of 65 years, Beverley, daughter Alison (Alan), daughter-in-law Judith, grandson James and granddaughters, Katherine and Elizabeth.
George, fondly known as Jug to some, was born in Winnipeg on February 3, 1936. He spent his early days in Fort Rouge, attending school at Riverview, Lord Roberts and Tec Voc. As a young man, George developed a love of the outdoors and camping which persisted throughout his life. Along with his brother, George joined a community militia group where he discovered the joy of motorcycles.
George worked in the business forms industry, learning the ropes and eventually landing on the sales side. He met his wife Bev in 1957, marrying in 1958. George and Bev eventually settled in Fort Garry to raise their three children. He was active within the Victoria Community Club and coached several sports teams.
George was an active member of the Masons for many years. He enjoyed building friendships within the brotherhood of the Northern Lights Prince Rupert Lodge.
After retirement, George and Bev moved to Vancouver Island where they spent 24 very happy years. They loved the beauty of the Island and met some great friends and neighbours. In the winter they enjoyed driving their motorhome down to Mazatlan where they became part of a wonderful community of snowbirds. George had a great memory for details and a true gift for story-telling that was well-known to his family and friends; his tales will be dearly missed.
In 2021, health concerns brought George and Bev back to Winnipeg, settling at the Shaftesbury, close to their only daughter.
The family extends their gratitude to all the staff of Riverview ward 3 East and the Grace Hospice for the compassionate care provided in his final days. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations to be made to the Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association.

In my youth I spent so much time at the Glenday house. I remember many times at the dinner table being regaled with George’s stories, learning life lessons, and polishing my table manners 😁, and later learning the merits of Lambs Navy rum. George had a quick wit and a great sense of humour. He literally absorbed information, and could always provide the answer to some obscure crossword clue. It was a honour to know you Jug. Rest in peace. Biggest hugs to Alison and Bev. - Posted by: Lesley Whalley (Friend of the family ) on: Oct 29, 2023

I knew Bev, way back in the late 40's and met George the year I was married (1957) They were ideally suited and always had smiles on their faces. Although, I moved out to Vancouver, we kept in touch with each other, over the years. My deepest sympathy to Alison and family and especially to Bev. RIP Jug.
