Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES ROBERT BRENNAN
With great sadness as a family, we announce the peaceful passing after a short illness of our beloved father, loving partner, granda, brother, uncle, and friend to many, James (Jimmy) Brennan, in Drogheda, Louth, Republic of Ireland. Jimmy was born in Bath, England, but was a true son of Belfast, Northern Ireland. This heritage lived firmly within his soul.
Jimmy was deeply involved in the Belfast community, joining the St. John's Ambulance service as a teenager, where he met the likes of The Rolling Stones and Diana Ross (some of his favourite stories to tell), but more importantly, a young Bernadette Norwood. Jimmy and Bernadette later married in Cyprus in 1973 and would go on to welcome four sons, James (Jamie), Conor, Owen, and Liam. During the growth of their family, a decision was made to make a move given the Troubles in Northern Ireland at the time. In 1977, Canada opened its arms. Once there, Jimmy continued his career as a paramedic, rising in the ranks to achieve the position of Chief of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service.
As time passed, life changed. During this time, the children grew up and although Jimmy and Bernadette went their separate ways, they were both immensely proud of the four sons they raised together. Jimmy began a new chapter in his life when he retired and met his match in partner, Julianna Trivers. Together, they built a beautiful life, sharing a love of family, music, trivia, Ireland, and, to Jimmy's chagrin, a couple of mischievous black cats.
Everyone who met Jimmy was greeted with a story and true Irish hospitality. He was beloved by many, far and wide. Jimmy leaves behind partner Julianna, sons, Jamie, Conor (Amy), Owen (Danielle), Liam (Kaitlin), grandchildren, Declan and Riley (Conor and Amy), siblings, Gerard, Dolores, and Michael, as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his father, Thomas Brennan, and most recently his beloved mother, Sarah (Sally) Brennan.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held in Winnipeg at a later date.
Love you to pieces, forever and always. Sláinte.

My condolences to Julianna and his children. I knew Jimmy for many many years from the Toad in the Hole in the Osborne Village. I always enjoyed his charming company. He was a fine man. - Posted by: wesley emerson (Friend) on: Nov 20, 2023

My sincerest condolences to all his family and friends. I met Jimmy in 1998 at The Toad in the Hole pub, he was quite the charmer (it was that Irish accent!) and I’ll never forget him singing Black Velvet Band for me at my wedding reception. A kind and gentle man, I regret having lost touch with him and am so sorry to hear of his passing. - Posted by: Sharon Mullen (Friend) on: Nov 02, 2023
