GEORGE MOFFAT

George Melvin Moffat was born January 5th, 1934 and passed away Octover 10th, 2023 at the age of 89 after a short stay in the Tri-Lake Health Centre in Killarney Manitoba.

He was predeceased by his sisters Ethel (Sam Blackwell), Reta and Muriel. He is survived and will be missed by his cousins and friends.

George was the fourth child and only son born to Robert and Minnie (Shepherd) Moffat in their farm home in the Rose Valley District, section 27-1-16.

His little black pony was often ridden to the Rose Valley School house where George completed grade eight. He then assisted his dad with farming until his parents moved to town in 1965. Farming was his love for the next 50 years and then chose to rent his land.

George was honest and fair, a modest gentleman, kind and caring, had a lively curiosity about everyone, was up to date on current affairs, didn’t want to be any trouble to others, was open to new ideas (but do not try to change his mind), very independent, took pride in what he had accomplished, enjoyed his gospel TV programs and most of all, was a farmer with a heart for the land.

His funeral service was held on Monday, October 16th, 2023, at the Wheatland Funeral chapel in Killarney, MB, with burial in the Killarney Cemetery.

Donations in memory of George can be made to The Salvation Army, 9 Princess Ave E., Brandon, MB, R7A 1R8 or Turtle Mountain Bible Camp, P.O. Box 1198 Boissevain MB, R0K 0E0, or to a charity of one’s choice.

A special thank you to the Tri-Lake Health Centre paramedics, physicians, nursing, and dietary staff for their compassionate care of George, to Matt and staff of the Wheatland Funeral Service for their professional services, Pastor Ray Riglin for his inspirational words, the pallbearers, Brian for reading the eulogy, and the UCW for the lovely lunch they provided and served.

The family appreciate the service of Doris, Colleen, and Lisa for their many acts of love and kindness.

A special thank you to all our caring friends for their kind words, thought and prayers.
