ROBERT ALEXANDER PAPINEAU

1937 - 2023

It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Bob Papineau on November 9, 2023 peacefully at home.

Bob is survived by his wife Diane and two sons, Don Papineau and Ken (Jessica) Papineau and four grandchildren, Caitlyn and Jordan of Winnipeg and Benjamin and William of Sarasota, Florida. He is also survived by his brother Rick (Noreen) Papineau and sister Cheryl (John) Warnica, and sister in-law Phyllis Papineau and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his mother and father, Gladys and Robert William Papineau; wife Doreen Papineau and by his brother Brian Papineau.

As a young child the family lived in the north end and later moved to Telfer Avenue. He attended Isaac Brock School and Gordon Bell High School. Summers were spent at the cottage at Grand Beach. He earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree at the University of Manitoba. Bob was Chartered Accountant and had an office on Broadway for many years. Bob helped many people through the years with their taxes, and worked hard to ensure the most accurate refunds for his clients, no matter their status.

Bob loved sports. He played and coached his boys in hockey and played tennis and raquetball. He participated in Provincial and National Raquetball Tournaments for many years and volunteered as treasurer for Raquetball Manitoba and later Raquetball Canada. He was a Winnipeg Jets fan and a lifelong season ticket holder. He was also a passionate fan of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the Toronto Blue Jays.

Bob was a member of the Winnipeg Canoe Club until its closing and then became a member of the Winnipeg South Osborne Legion where he found a new circle of friends. Bob could not go anywhere without running into somebody he knew.

All in all, it was a life well lived.

Thomson in the Park is in charge of arrangements.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Winnipeg South Osborne Legion at 426 Osborne Street on Friday, December 1, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to The Heart & Stroke Foundation.
