Passed away peacefully at the age of 90 years old on October 30, 2023.
Pauline is survived by her daughter, Judy Sabbagh, and her son, Shaun Jonathan Pylypiw, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Nettie Smerchanski, an infant son Carl, and daughter Doreen Buchanan. As the years have gone by, she was also predeceased by all of her siblings, William, Peter, Helen, Mary and Nestor.
Mom was very true to her country roots, there was so much she enjoyed! She continued to find joy in gardening, picking berries and mushrooms, visiting or touring the countryside. Mom made the best perogies and we all certainly enjoyed a great feast of them!
Over time, Mom embraced the city life and enjoyed spending most of her time at Legion #141 dancing to Ukrainian music and playing bingo with her friends or acquaintances from the neighborhood.
Her family wishes to thank The Charleswood Care Centre staff for the wonderful care they provided Mom. Their compassion, commitment and ongoing communication was endless and we are so grateful to each of you.
A private family service will take place at a later date.
