MICHAEL WILLIAM DARVILL

It is with sadness the family of Michael William Darvill announces his passing at Seven Oaks Hospital on November 10, 2023.

Mike was predeceased by his wife Claire Darvill (2019), parents, Eileen Patricia Darvill (1981), Elmer John Darvill (1979).

Left to remember him are his sons, Dennis (Janet), Douglas (Annabela) and Sean (Patty): grandchildren, Alison (Bryan), Kasydi (Tory), Zak (Domini), Jeremy (Jillian), Amber (Michael) and Leah: great-grandchildren, Jason, Beau, Dean, Colt and Aurora, brothers, David Darvill, Donald (Laurie) Darvill and their daughters, Shannon (Alex) and Leanne (Dylan) and sister Kathy Darvill (Neil).

Mike worked for Air Canada which took him and his family to Montreal for a short period of time, he then worked at Xerox and finished off his career at Standard Aero.

In his retirement Mike spent his time at the family cottage at Victoria Beach. This was his happy place, where Mike would ride his bike every morning in his fancy bike gear. He would sit on the deck watching the birds and reading the Victoria Beach community paper, The Herald. He enjoyed building his model car collection which he had on display as well. Mike had a passion for music, he had a large CD collection at home and at the cottage. His home was always filled with the sound of Cat Stevens, Alison Krauss and Jewel, just to name a few. It can’t go without saying Mike was a big supporter of the Winnipeg Jets, he had season tickets for years and he enjoyed his monthly subscription to the NHL magazine.

Mike was man of few words, however he enjoyed supporting his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mike deeply missed his wife Claire after her passing June 2019. Many times, he would ask to go the "Bone Yard" as he would call it, to see her. Mike will finally be reunited with his beloved wife now.

Memorial service will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue at 2:00 p.m. on November 20, 2023.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Crohns and Colitis Foundation or CancerCare Manitoba

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • So sorry to hear of the passing of Michael. My sincere condolences to all of you during this sad time. I always remember Mickey as my oldest cousin, married, working, and with children of his own. Although I didn’t have the chance to see him very often, I do have memories of chatting with him and Claire down at the lake, or a family wedding event. It seems the love of Victoria beach is a constant in our family. We were so fortunate as youngsters to have been exposed to the quaint beauty of cottage life down at the lake . Some of my best memories are the times I spent there at Aunty Yvonne’s cottage. My thoughts and love to all Joy - Posted by: Joy Gallant (nee Magnusson) (Cousin ) on: Nov 20, 2023
