It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of David McMillan on November 19, 2023 at the age of 96.
David was predeceased by his wife Diane (Upritchard) in October, 2023. He will be greatly missed by several nieces and nephews along with many close friends.
David was born in Dallas, MB. David started his musical career at a very young age getting his first fiddle at 13. He loved to compete all over Canada and the USA. He also loved to play at community events and senior homes with his fellow fiddlers. He continued his passion with the Manitoba Fiddle Association and was recognized in 2010 for his achievements.
David was also an avid sailor/canoeist. One of David’s other great achievements was being recognized as an honorable member with North of 60 Chapter, Order of Artic Adventure. The McMillan trait of being adventurous and musically inclined is being left behind in many of his nephews and nieces throughout North America.
David met and married Diane while being an electrical apprentice with Winnipeg Hydro in Pointe du Bois later working for Manitoba Hydro. Prior to retirement they purchased a home in Pinawa, MB. to enjoy their many hobbies and to be close to lifelong friends and family.
As per David’s wishes, there will be no funeral service.
