Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I would come to know Chris at the University of Manitoba as a member of his gas pool. In a matter of the few years of our association, I would come to count him amongst my closest friends . He was such an agreeable fellow. A very generous person in more ways than one, with a good sense of humour, and a hearty big laugh, it was a pleasure to be in his company. Soon after graduation when I wanted to buy my first car, it was he, the more astute negotiator, that made that experience less stressful. Decades would go by and when our paths did cross, for me it was it was like resuming a conversation that only occurred yesterday . A hard working boy from the North End of Winnipeg who was determined to improve his lot in life, he put himself through university by working all hours as a train station baggage handler . This involved unloading the luggage car onto a large wagon that was then towed by hand into the train station . He never waivered in his pursuit and in short order acquired a B.A. in Honours Economics that launched his career as a high energy executive first in the Manitoba Government and then in the garment industry . In later years when his name would come up in conversation, the sentiment was that he was a a good man, well respected and warmly remembered by all. - Posted by: Dan Moroz (friend) on: Nov 27, 2023
