Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALAN WESLEY SCOTT
It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Alan Wesley Scott, December 1, 2023. Alan was born to Joyce and Tom Scott April 18, 1955. Alan was the eldest of four children, big brother to Craig (Kathy), Clair (Lori), and Michelle Scott. He grew up on a cattle farm west of Ninga and spent his youth helping on the family farm and playing hockey. His whole life, he was an incredibly hard worker and became well known and respected in the cattle industry in southwestern Manitoba. The absence of ‘Big Al’ (as he was affectionately known by many of the guys at the feedlot) will leave a large void in many of our lives.
In 1976, Alan met the love of his life, Bonnie Coombs, from Hamiota, Manitoba, who had moved to Killarney to work. Alan quickly fit in with Bonnie’s four brothers Dick (Betty Jean), Don (Bonnie), Bruce (Barb), and Ross (Eva) and their families. Alan was an amazing dad to Amber (Choc), Bryce (Brooklyn), and Kalee (Cory). He was extremely close to his family. He was adored by his eight grandchildren Evie, Elle, Jasper, Lucy, Violet, Scarlett, MacKenzie and Ivy and was eagerly awaiting the arrival of his ninth grandchild in February 2024. Alan and Bonnie spent countless summers enjoying time with their family at the Coombs’ family cabins at Shoal Lake. Alan loved Bonnie and his Harley, and together they put on thousands of kilometers making memories with friends. In winter months, time spent in the Arizona sunshine was something Alan really looked forward to every year. Alan was a big man with an even bigger heart, he loved fiercely and openly, to know him was to love him.
Thank you.
Words can not begin to express the depth of grief we are feeling right now with no reprieve imaginable to us. We are thankful, grateful and overwhelmed with the outpouring of love and support from family, community and friends. Food and flower deliveries, beautiful cards, offers to care for our kids, dropping off activities and snacks, clearing snow, keeping the farm operating, thoughtful messages and calls. It has all been appreciated. Thank you to all who have reached out. Thank you so much to all who have rallied around us and supported us as we navigate this grief.
Bonnie, Amber (Choc), Bryce (Brooklyn), Kalee (Cory) and family.
