JAMES (JIM) HARVEY WILL
It is with great sadness to share the peaceful passing of Jim Will, with his adopted family by his side. He leaves behind a legacy of memories and stories that will remain in our hearts forever.
He is survived by his sister Barb (and family) and his brother George (and family), his adoptive children, Alex and Amber, David and Liz along with their daughters who lovingly called him Grandpa Jim.
Jim was a kind, smart, humble man born and raised in Portage La Prairie. He was very well known and loved throughout his years as a Teacher and Vice Principal at Jefferson High School in Winnipeg. After retirement, he became known as the "Mayor of Osborne Village'', where he lived for over 40 years. He made friends easily with his great coffee conversations, wide array of knowledge and was often spotted walking the village and chatting up people with one of his many beloved pets. Jim was a true treasure and will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched along the way.
Donations can be made in Jim's name at the Winnipeg Humane Society or CancerCare Manitoba.

Mr Will was one of a kind. Genuine, gentle, caring and gracious . He was my vice principal back in 88-90ish and he truly made a huge impact in my life. When one would think no one cared or they were alone Mr. Will would surely be there and would be so easy to speak with and truly didn’t mind at all to listen and to offer empathy and support. My world is truly a better place because of Mr. Will. Over the years of living in the village myself I’d from time to time cross paths with Mr. Will and I was sure to tell him how he was important to me and to other lives and that he did in fact matter and make a difference. You will always be loved, cherished and never forgotten. God rest your soul. - Posted by: Michael Casey (Student and friend ) on: Dec 25, 2023

I had Mr. Will, as I always called him as, a home room teacher and English teacher about 50 years ago. We were friends ever since. My wife and I are very saddened to hear his passing. He was a real gentleman and kind soul who was always there for his students and friends. He will be missed. May his memory be for a blessing. Mr. Will was one of those teachers that puts an impact on your life. He truly did mine. He pushed me to succeed. One time when our phone number changed, I was at a dance and could not remember the new number to call for a ride. Mr. Will refused to allow me to walk home at night. He drove me home and made sure I got in. May your rest in paradise. My thoughts are with the family. ❤️ - Posted by: Laurissa Gellings (Kolada) (Student) on: Dec 23, 2023

I often talked with Jim, my neighbour on Roslyn Rd., when he was walking his dogs, or other peoples dogs, around Osborne Village. We first met during the Great Flood of 1997, and discovered we were both from P la P. Often talked about Portage and Delta Beach. He was a very nice man, and always had all the neighborhood news. I was sorry to see the notice of his death, although I knew he hadn’t been well, and hadn’t seen him for a while. My condolences to his friends and family. - Posted by: Valerie Gilroy (Neighbour ) on: Dec 23, 2023

So, my dear old friend has moved on. Jim and I were YMCA members, volunteers and staff together for a number of decades. His wit, wisdom and humanity were the glue of our friendship. I lost touch in recent years and regretted that absence in my life. On rare occasions I would hear a familiar voice call out, Harold Bruce! It could only be Jim. Those reconnections were special moments. I will always hold dear the times we spent together and keep his memory a treasure to cherish Condolences to all the family.
