DANIEL THOMAS RODDY

There was never an adventure that Daniel Thomas Roddy wouldn't take an opportunity to partake in. In every one of these adventures, he made lasting connections with family, friends and on occasion, with strangers. Since his youth, he was an extremely determined and passionate individual, conquering the ski slopes, winning soccer championships and mastering golf. His range of life experiences greatly complimented his outlook on adventuring out into the unknown and his curiosity often lead him into truly wild circumstances, of which he would relish taking the opportunity to share in story form. His time out in beautiful British Columbia encouraged him to play outside and become closer with nature. While enjoying the wild outdoors, he sought to give back by planting trees, an activity that shaped his life and perspectives. As an aspiring writer, he would take opportunities to leave thought provoking messages on hotel stationery, postcards and book covers, in hopes of inspiring others to keep adventuring, however that may be. He will be truly missed but will remain as an inspiration to capitalize on the chances life presents and to cherish the connections and relationships we make with others, no matter what.

Daniel set forth on the greatest adventure on December 7, 2023, leaving behind his mother Marie Roddy, his dear Gran (Ann Roddy) of Ottawa, ON, and Okum (Isla Whiteway) of Berens River, MB, several aunts, uncles and cousins.

A celebration of Daniel's vibrant life will be held on January 20, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at The Leaf, 2nd floor, Assiniboine Park, exclusively for close friends and family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Our Place, 919 Pandora Ave., Victoria, BC V8V 3P4.

'And I saw a friend of mine the other day

And he told me that my eyes were gleamin'

Oh I said I had been away, and he knew

Oh he knew, the depths I was meanin'

And it felt so good to see his face

All the comfort invested in my soul

Oh to feel the warmth, of a smile.'
