Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWAYNE JOHN DAVID TEGELBERG
We are saddened to announce the passing of Wayne after a courageous and lengthy battle with cancer in his home town of Eriksdale, Manitoba.
Wayne is survived by his two sons, Brent (Jennifer Wilson), and Darren (Dawn); siblings, Wendy (Bob Hoffman), Heather (Haydn Jacques), Randy (Donna-Mae), Lorne; his sons’ mother, Brenda Tegelberg; numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren; and friend Andrea Lang.
Wayne was predeceased by his parents, Ferdinand and Beatrice and grandson Linden.
He was raised on the family farm that his grandparents had homesteaded at Eriksdale.
In 1966, he married Brenda Heroux and continued to work on the family farm. He later began driving truck for local carriers and others which carried on for several years. He loved to tease Wendy by saying that he “had backed up more miles in than she had driven ahead”.
The family then moved to Shaunavon, SK, where Wayne was employed by Clarke Farms and then moved on to work for Sask. Wheat Pool where he worked until his retirement and returned to Eriksdale. For a number of years Wayne even went back to Clarke Farms to help out at seeding and harvesting time.
In his retirement Wayne developed a fondness for buying and repairing old Skidoos and John Deere Lawn tractors. He was an avid outdoorsman and hunter and always carried a camera and later a cell phone to capture photos of wildlife while he toured the countryside with his truck and quad.
Wayne was always there with a helping hand whenever needed. Despite many challenges in his life he found ways to rebound and survive. He loved family and family get-togethers and, especially, reminiscing about ‘the good old days’.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
