It’s with great sadness we announce our mom, Connie Moffat, peacefully passed away on New Year’s Eve. She was 91.
Mom was an energetic woman who enjoyed spending time with family, friends and our many pets.
She will be missed by her three children, JoAnne Nelson (Dave), Kevin (Shauna) and Doug Jr. (Ashley) as well as her three grandchildren, Steven Nelson (Katie), Beverley Munroe (Taylor) and Maslen Lunney, great-grandson Henry Munroe and many nieces and nephews.
Mom was predeceased by her mother Jessie, father Archibald, brothers Doug, Bob and Drew; and sisters Shelagh, Kathryn, Olivia, Frances and Alison.
Mom grew up on Leighton Avenue (East Kildonan) as the second-youngest of nine children.
After graduating from Children’s Hospital School of Nursing in 1955, she worked as a nurse in Winnipeg, Selkirk and Victoria, B.C.
She married Doug Lunney Sr., in 1956. They raised their family in East Kildonan before moving to a hobby farm in Cooks Creek in 1977.
Mom had a great sense of humour, made a fine chili, enjoyed music, travelling and was an enthusiastic curler, golfer, and violinist.
We will miss her so much but are thankful for the many years we had with her.
