Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • Mr. Borowski was my teacher at Grant Park in the 70’s. He was very strict but very good teacher. After all these years I still remember him telling me stop “clicking” on my pen clip. My condolences to his family. - Posted by: Brinder-Paul Phangureh (Student ) on: Jan 06, 2024

  • I was very saddened today to learn of Frank's passing. Frank and I first met at the Winnipeg Electric Company where we had summer jobs as meter readers. We continued our friendship for many years. We both attended the University of Manitoba and also spent many hours on the golf course, Frank possessing skills much superior to mine. We participated in various sporting activities and got together with other friends at a multitude of events. Frank had a good sense of humour. He was intelligent and sensitive, unfortunately, much more than I realized. Our last meeting occurred at his home where I made a jocular remark to which Frank responded in an unbelievably bad way although we had frequently traded barbs. Despite my apologies, he walked out and did not return. I was surprised and felt sorry, hurt and was also miffed. I wished that this situation had never happened. I thought about you often Frank, and even tried to call you (unsuccessfully). When I saw Frank's picture in the Free Press this morning, I burst into tears. It was as if part of me had left with him. The numerous memories of joyful times with Frank flooded my mind. Frankie, I am so sorry to see you leave us. We shared some fabulous times in our younger days. I hope that we might meet again some day on the big golf course in the sky. I would like to extend my sympathy to Janice and the rest of Frank's family....Ivan - Posted by: Ivan Bilash (Friend) on: Jan 06, 2024

  • I was very saddened and shocked to learn that Frank had passed away, We first met at The Winnipeg Electric Company where we had summer jobs as meter readers. We stayed as friends for many years as we both attended the University of Manitoba. Frank was an outstanding golfer and we spent hours on the golf course, where he was much more skilled than I was. We went to beaches together and many other gatherings with other friends. Frank had a good sense of humour. He was intelligent. He was also sensitive, unfortunately, more than I realized. We did not see each other much after our marriages but at our last meeting at his home, I made a joke to which he reacted unbelievably badly. He walked away and did not return despite my apologies. I felt surprised, hurt, sorry for what I had said but also angry as we exchanged barbs many times without having untoward repercussions. I feel so sorry that this situation ever occurred,. When I saw Frank's picture in the Free Press this morning, I burst into tears. It was like a part of me was gone with him. Frankie, we shared so much together and I am so sorry to see you leave. I hope we can meet again on the great golf course in the sky. I would like to extend my sympathy to Janice and the rest of Frank's family. ....Ivan - Posted by: Ivan Bilash (Friend) on: Jan 06, 2024

  • One of my favorite teachers ever. He correctly told my parents I was one of the worst lab students he ever saw, so chemistry was never going to be my field. But he was a great teacher. - Posted by: Ralph Levenstein (student) on: Jan 06, 2024

  • Mr. Borowski was my Grade 11 & 12 chemistry teacher in the 1970s. He was one of the best teachers I ever had. Most kids feared him the first year as he was rough and tough. By the 2nd year we all loved him and he was a teddy bear. He strongly influenced my career decisions. My sincere condolences to his family and friends. - Posted by: Barbara Dixon (Former student ) on: Jan 06, 2024
