Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLAWRENCE JOSEPH KEMASH
The family of Lawrence (Sonny) Kemash are saddened to share that he passed away December 20, 2023, peacefully, at the Grace Hospital with family by his side.
Sonny is survived by his sisters, Lorna Nicholson (Darrell), Doreen Kemash, Joanne Finlayson (Troy), stepbrothers, Henry Loewen, William Loewen, and stepsisters, Edith Morissette, Lillian Borowsky and Helen Luyben. Sonny is also survived by his son Lawrence Sabiston, his son's extended family and granddaughters, and his chosen daughter Brittany Patabon, along with aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and his father Lawrence Kemash.
He is predeceased by his mother and stepdad, Elsie and William Loewen, his grandparents, Felix and Edna Nault, and Paul and Phyllis Kemash, his nephew Brandon Finlayson, and his granddaughter Mia Rose.
Sonny lived with Crohn's disease for the last 30 years which took a toll on his body. Sonny never let that get in the way of giving a helping hand to those in the North End and working as much as he could. Sonny would give you the shirt off his back if you needed one, his love for his family was unwavering and he was especially fond of his granddaughters.
Sonny accepted the Lord as his personal Saviour prior to his passing - Heaven bound with no more colostomy bags or medication!
The family would like to thank those who visited him while in hospital, it meant so much to him. We also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the healthcare team at the Grace Hospital for their care and to Dr. Chakroborty at St. Boniface Hospital that provided Lawrence with all the necessary vitamins he required due to his health condition for many years.
Sonny will be buried beside his grandma and pumpum Nault at Brookside cemetery in the Spring.
A memorial service will take place at Friends Funeral Home, 2146 Main Street, Winnipeg, on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 2:00 p.m.
