STEVEN GEIGER
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Steve Geiger on Monday, January 1, 2024, at Health Sciences Centre surrounded by his family.
He was predeceased by his parents, Anna and Martin Geiger. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Evelyn, his son Christopher, daughter Melissa (Derek) and granddaughter Caroline (Mason). He is also survived by his sister Rosa Sarkany and brother Martin Geiger (Darlene) and their families.
Steve enjoyed a career of 35 years with Corrections Canada, where he forged lifelong friendships with many of his co-workers, retiring in 2009.
During his life you could find Steve swimming in his backyard pool when he wasn’t out travelling the world, including taking in the sites of one of his favourites, New York City. Steve liked to look at life through the lens of his camera and used his photography skills volunteering to take photos every year for the charity, Dreams Take Flight.
Steve will be greatly missed by his family who have found solace in knowing he is now at peace. Steve had a great sense of humour, was a great storyteller and had a big heart for animals, especially for his cats, Roosevelt and Franklin.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society or Kidney Foundation of Canada.
Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at the Parish of St. Timothy 135 John Forsyth Rd.

So very sorry to hear of Steve's passing. I had a lovely chat with him one evening at St. Tomothy's church hall. I really had always just said a passing hello but this chat let me see his sense of humour very quickly. Evelyn you will be ok.....your faith and love of people will help you as you navigate this journey of grief. I am in Florida till mid February but sending hugs your way. - Posted by: Jackie Sulivan (Friend) on: Jan 28, 2024

Steve was a kind and generous man. He used his gift of photography to create many wonderful memories for his fellow volunteers of Dreams Take Flight. We will miss him. Sincerely, Victoria “and then I heard an angel say, he is with you everyday.” - Posted by: Victoria Stayner-Albl (Friend) on: Jan 20, 2024

In about 1998 my mother-in-law was turning 75. I wanted to somehow arrange to fulfill a dream of hers - that being to drive a yellow Corvette! Lo & Behold, a yellow corvette drove by by me on our street as I worked on the yard. Better yet, it parked at a neighbour's. Long story short, I approached the owner - Ken, & brazenly asked if he'd be willing to give her a ride on her birthday in that yellow Corvette. Arrangements were made and Ken picked her up, presented her with a yellow rose & drove her to Green Gates while Evelyn came with us while we followed along. Ken even pulled over & let Mom H drive the last little distance! It was always her regret that she didn't just keep going for a while past the restaurant! That experience was a significant highlight for her! Thank you for making that dream come true for her! It was a highlight for us, too! Bless his heart also, for his involvement with Dreams Take Flight! I'm sure he's brought a lot of joy to many around him! - Posted by: BJ Hiebert (Acquaintance) on: Jan 14, 2024
