JENNIE (JEAN) KORALEWICZ

July 21, 1931 - January 14, 2024

With great sadness, we say goodbye to Jean Koralewicz, our wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt. Left to mourn are her husband of 71 years, her four children and their spouses, her nine grandchildren, two of her brothers, and all her family and friends. Jean cared very much for her family and the great many friends she made over the years. She never forgot her early life on a farm in Elma, MB. She had many good memories of her parents and growing up on the farm to share.

Jean had many interests and did everything well. She loved music and dancing with her husband. She was talented and generous, sharing the delicious foods and beautiful crafts she made. She cooked, sewed, stitched, and had a green thumb like no other. She loved nature, especially birds and flowering plants. Her love of gardening was apparent to anyone who saw her beautifully landscaped yard. Even at the age of 92, she still grew enough tomato plants to share with friends and neighbors. For years she volunteered weekly to make perogies to raise funds for the church. Jean always advocated for the First Nations people and the less fortunate and helped wherever she could.

Jean loved her family and friends and was sad to leave them but she’s safe in our Heavenly Father’s care now. She was blessed with a good, long life. She will join the family members she dearly missed and be waiting there for her dance partner. Thank you to Riverview, St. Boniface, Health Sciences and Misericordia Hospitals and all the health care staff that are working hard to take care of those in need. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Siloam Mission, Agape Table, or the hospital of your choice.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday January 24, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Eternal Grace Funerals 1111 Logan Avenue. Rev. Fr. M. Winn officiating. Interment will follow in the Elma Cemetery.

  • My sincerest condolences on the loss of your mother. Jean was a wonderful lady. I got to know her through Seniors at Holy Eucharist and at the perogy making. I enjoyed seeing her last year at the perogy Christmas dinner. She made sure to come and talk to me and offer condolences to me on the loss of my husband Tony. She made Tony a buckwheat pie, which Tony just loved. She was very generous and loving. Sure will miss her. Shirley - Posted by: Shirley Skochylas (Parishioner at Holy Eucharist ) on: Jan 21, 2024

  • We were blessed to have Peter and Jean as neighbours and to be able to stop in as they would sit outside. We were told many stories of their life back in Elma and Jean’s family, being proud of her grandchildren. Jean touched our hearts and we know how much Peter loved her too. Our sincerest condolences to the family. Andy and Lori Chartrand - Posted by: Andy Chartrand (Neighbours ) on: Jan 21, 2024
