ALLAN W. F. CRAIG

December 13, 1951 -

November 23, 2023

A Life Well Lived

I, Linda, as Allan's only sibling (and I need to note, younger too, which we would always joke about), together with my husband, Gerry would have you consider this question before each truth written here ..... Do/Did You?

Know Allan was a beloved son of his parents, Allan and Lucy Craig who predeceased him in 1995 and 2006, respectively.

Have the good fortune of growing up with Allan in St. Vital where he would observe/listen, think, speak/act, always in this kind and thoughtful order.

Share Allan's interest and skill in a variety of sports ... like trying to get a hockey puck past him as a Goalie at Glenwood Community Centre.

Work with Allan and know of his work ethic during his 40 years of Employment with Westfair Foods.

Share Allan's lifelong LOVE of music.

Dr. David Rush, Transplant Nephrologist know how much Allan and I appreciated your care during our 2016 transplant process.

Allan's health care team of more than 60 years, know how much Allan and our family appreciated your medical care in managing Allan's Type 1 Diabetes.

Know our very small family, Heather and Ken Leslie together with our cherished friends, Janet and Judy have gathered privately to share our gratitude for Allan's life.

In Allan's memory, please practice random acts of kindness. Allan would LOVE that.

As Allan lived a life of private kindness, we have our cherished memories and ask if you would kindly share your "Allan Stories" with our family at passages.winnipegfreepress.com/

Our Dearest Allan ... To the world you were one ... to us you were the world.

Condolences & Memories (9 entries)

  • I had the honour to work with Al at the Extra Foods store on Main Street in the 80's. He was always a gentleman, the consummate professional and just an all around good heart. I was with him on the picket line the day he was purposely run over by a (________) old man and ignored by Winnipeg's finest. From the donuts he would bring to work every payday to his quick smile and quicker sense of humour, knowing Al enriched my life and made me a better person. Hearing of his passing diminishes me. Have a well deserved rest, Big Fella Steve Channing - Posted by: Steve Channing (friend/Co-worker) on: May 30, 2025

  • My condolences to you. Also remembering all the great times as kids we had. Allan was the best go cart pusher in neighborhood . Many days of street hockey, football, hide and seek, etc. He was always there and would include every kid in area. - Posted by: Kevin Hill (Nieghbor) on: Jan 29, 2024

  • Quirky, introverted, politically minded, cat lover, gentle, generous, dry wit and caring. All these things were admired and cherished by Linda and Gerry as well as friends. His memory lives lives on with all who loved him. - Posted by: Janet Wikstrom (Friend) on: Jan 29, 2024

  • Sweet memories of a gentle soul, with a sense of humour and athleticism in hockey, baseball and Clonard Avenue street games. Also a cribbage player and being a strong, loving support to his sister. His bus riding expertise and Harry Chapin and Tracy Chapman concerts spring to mind as well. I am grateful for the privilege of his presence while growing up. He was kindness. - Posted by: Nancy Gillen (Johnston) (Clonard neighbor ) on: Jan 28, 2024

  • I remember growing up with Allan in the same neighbourhood in St. Vital. Allan was always a great athlete and a good guy. He was always so even keeled. We enjoyed listening to and discussing mutual likes in music. I remember hanging out with him at Grand Beach one summer. Rest in peace my friend. - Posted by: Jim Gowler (Friend) on: Jan 27, 2024
