Our beloved Dad, Ron Truesdale of Qualicum Beach, BC, passed away at age 89 on January 29, 2024. He passed away peacefully and surrounded by love. He had a giant smile on his face and was radiating joy as he left this world. Our Dad had a million-dollar smile!
Survived by his son Randall Truesdale, son Barry Truesdale and daughter Sherri-Lynn Nelson; grandchildren, Matt Nelson, Stephanie (Matt) Larson and Jonathan (Kimberly) Nelson; great-grandchildren, Linnea and Jack Larson and Barrett Nelson; his sweetheart of 12 years, Alice Harrison and her wonderful family: brother Louis (Mary)Truesdale, and goddaughter Debi Truesdale. Predeceased by his mother Marjorie Scott and his wife Anne (Michaluk) Truesdale.
Dad was born and raised in Winnipeg. He joined the Winnipeg Police Department in 1955 as a constable and advanced to detective. He earned the rarely awarded Certificate of Merit. He was an expert sharpshooter; he won many trophies and awards at the prestigious U.S. National Police Shooting Championships competitions. His revolver is on display at the Winnipeg Police Museum. He attained the position of Investigator with the Province of British Columbia Financial Institutions Commission, investigating "white collar crime" as he would say, evolving to Senior Manager of Investigations.
Our Dad was a highly intelligent, easy going, ambitious, kind, handsome, and thoughtful man. Dad loved all living creatures and was a great outdoor enthusiast. He was fun-loving and a true gentleman. He loved to make others feel appreciated and valued. One of his grandsons summed it up this way, "If everyone left an impression on this earth like him the world would be a better place!" Our Dad was a great communicator and kept in constant contact. He always signed off with the words "Be Happy!" He has left large shoes to fill, and his legacy will live on through his loved ones.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.

Our sincere condolences to your family. Ron was a very good friend to both my parents. As a former brother in blue with my Dad, they had a connection that continued long into retirement with a friendship, and a shared friendship between Ron, Anne, and both my parents. After Anne and Dad’s passing, Ron and Mom always checked in on each other. Always sharing a story and a few laughs, and sometimes a “toast” to the good times. Mom has been very worried about Ron over the past few months. I know that she shares his loss with you. Ron has always greeted both my brother and I, and our spouses, and children with a “smile and a story.” I’m sure they’ve made room, finding Ron a special chair in the “parade room” in heaven. We are all so very sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Jacqueline Popplestone (Wickdahl) (Friend) on: Feb 17, 2024
