ROBERT G. ROGERS

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Robert George Rogers, peacefully in his home, on Monday, February 12, 2024.

Robert was predeceased by his loving wife of 28 years, Ruby Irene Rogers (Willetts), who passed away in 1992. He was also predeceased by his parents, John and Rita Rogers.

Robert is survived by his daughter, Kristin Henderson and her husband David; granddaughter Chelsey Tschosik, and her husband Ryan; and two great-grandchildren, Isaac and Abigail. Robert is also survived by his cousins, Elaine McConnell and family, and Eileen Smith and family.

Robert was born in Winnipeg on December 17, 1932, and attended Mulvey School and Gordon Bell High School. Robert went on to pursue a career in accounting and received his Chartered Accountant designation in 1963. In 1973, Robert, and his two partners, founded Warms Rogers Wright Chartered Accountants. After successfully growing their practice, they merged in 1989 with Coopers & Lybrand, which later became PricewaterhouseCoopers. During semi-retirement, Bob was a consultant at PPW Chartered Accountants.

Dad was an avid sports fan, a spirited supporter of both the Winnipeg Jets and Blue Bombers. He looked forward to each and every game, even more so in his later years. Post-game critiques with his son-in-law, Dave, were a weekly highlight for him. His love of hockey began in his very early years and led him to coach hockey at the West Broadway Community Club. His most anticipated occasions, however, were Sunday family dinners at his daughter’s home, where he enjoyed evenings filled with delicious food and delightful conversations. Dad also had a love for cars and reading; many books filled his bookshelf alongside model car displays. During his early retirement, he spent many winter breaks in Victoria, BC. He loved the west coast and was so happy to see his granddaughter, Chelsey, and her family make it their permanent home.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Grace, his homecare worker, who greeted him every morning with a smile and made sure he was able to start his day living independently for these last 18 months.

The family is at peace knowing that Robert and Ruby are reunited at last. We imagine they’re cruising down the West Coast Highway 101 in a red, 1964 Mustang convertible, returning to their favourite spots.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in memory of Robert can be made to MS Canada.

A private family Celebration of Life honouring Rob will be held later this year.

Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Ph. 204-885-9715, in care of arrangements.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • So sorry to hear of Bob's passing! Always remember him as a very kind man! He will truly be missed! - Posted by: Doug Smith (Cousin) on: Mar 01, 2024

  • While we had lost contact with Bob we often think of him. I was a student when Bob graduated in 1963. On April 1 1973 we joined Walter Warms to start our practice on the 13th floor of the Richardson Building. After the merger with Coopers & Lybrand we went our separate ways. For many years we celebrated April 1 at Rae & Jerrys and annual Christmas dinners with Ruby and Bob. I am also remembering his father Jack who worked for one of my clients (the Mitchell Family) By coincidence I also collect model cars (and coins) and own a red (2019) Mustang. Please take care.
