With profound sorrow, the family of Deborah Marie (Debbie) Torfason, 57, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, announces her sudden and unexpected passing on February 12, 2024.
Debbie was born in Roblin, Manitoba, on November 29, 1966, to James Oliver Ellis and Dorothy (Charles) Ellis. She spent her formative years in Roblin and attended Goose Lake High School, graduating in 1984. In 1986, while working at Selkirk Hospital, she met her soulmate, Todd Torfason. They married in 1988 and had three children.
Debbie's warmth and love touched everyone she knew. Her talent for bringing people together, whether through her cooking or her genuine hospitality, created unforgettable moments. Her home was a haven of laughter, love, and the enticing aroma of her culinary creations.
Her devotion to her family knew no bounds. She was the heart and soul of her household, pouring her boundless love into her role as a wife to Todd Torfason, a mother to her daughter Aislynn Torfason (Kevin Ebbitt), her son Christian Torfason (Paige Primmer), and a cherished friend to many. Her love for her husband, children, family, and friends was evident in every gesture, every meal shared, and every moment spent together.
Debbie is preceded in death by her parents, James Oliver Ellis, and Dorothy (Charles) Ellis, and her beloved son, Bjorn Torfason. In addition to her immediate family, Debbie leaves behind a legacy of kindness and generosity that touched the lives of many. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Shocked to see that Debbie passed away. We worked together at Henderson vision centre , had some fun times and lots of laughs, attended their wedding in 1988. They moved north to work, lost touch with her, but thought of her often. Sincere condolences to Todd and the family. May Debbie rest in peace - Posted by: Audrey Gunning (Friend ) on: Feb 20, 2024

We are very saddened by your loss and we are thinking of all of you. We've been thinking about the fond memories we have of Debbie, especially behind the bar at your annual Christmas party. She was a great host, making sure everyone had enough to eat and drink and entertaining us all with her sharp wit and funny stories. Everyone always had a great time and we'll truly miss Debbie's warmth and hospitality. In our conversations and texts with Debbie, there were always stories of Aislynn (Kevin), Christian (Paige) or her “Toddo”. It was clear how very proud she was of you and your accomplishments and how much she loved you all. Cherish the memories you have. We are disappointed we are unable to join you for her service. Please know you will all be in our thoughts and prayers. Our sincerest condolences. - Posted by: Lorne and Debbie West (Family) on: Feb 17, 2024
