DENIS MARCEL CADIEUX
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts we announce the unexpected passing at St. Boniface Hospital of Denis Marcel Cadieux on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at the age of 74.
Denis is survived by his beloved wife Gladys (nee Jorgenson), cherished children, Danielle, Dwight (Lauren), Margaux (Daniel Hoffman) and four adored granddaughters, Emerson, Kenzie, Autumn and Charlie.
Also surviving Denis are sisters/brothers-in-law: Pauline Cadieux, Lynette Cadieux, Carole and Lee Koop, Bonnie Clement and Les Abrams, Debra and Ross Forman, Sharon and Don Eadie, Lori Jorgenson and Doug Bedford, Brenda Jorgenson-Low and David Low and many special nieces and nephews. Also, the dear children of Merna and George McClelland and their families.
Denis was predeceased by his parents, Marie-Paule (Laurin) and Jean Cadieux, brothers, Jean-Paul and Roger, in-laws, Kathleen and Edward Jorgenson and brother-in-law Luc Clement.
Denis grew up in Letellier, MB where he had a wonderful, carefree childhood and honed his hockey skills for many hours at the local rink. As he got older he played hockey for the Letellier Blues and, later, oldtimers hockey. He then graduated to be the best armchair coach ever for his favourite teams be it hockey or football and was a sports fan through and through.
Denis worked for a time helping his father/brother farm, and held jobs at Inco Mines in Thompson as well as the sugar beet plant in Letellier. After trying all these career paths he settled on working for the Grenville Services sign company founded by Grenville Coy. After a short period of time Denis bought the company and had a successful 37 year long career in the sign business.
Denis sold the company in 2009 and retired thus beginning the next chapter of his life. During the next 15 years he travelled, golfed regularly in the summer at Crescent Drive, curled in two different leagues at the Granite and volunteered faithfully once a week with the Meals-On-Wheels program. Denis also found there were lots of projects to be undertaken after buying a lakeside cottage on St. Malo Lake in 2010. Denis felt so fulfilled in all these retirement endeavours.
Denis had a profound love for his family and was so happy to have celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary with his dearest Gladys in June, 2023. Denis lived life simply but fully and with much gratitude. He was patient, kind and supportive of those around him, be they large gestures of help or being in the moment of one's company. Although he had a quiet demeanour he had a wonderful sense of humour and left us with so many great memories. Denis was a welcoming and generous host with his home and cottage being the centre of many great gatherings. He will be missed beyond measure but leaves a legacy of love, laughter and friendship.
We acknowledge with heartfelt appreciation all that the Cardiac Sciences and Critical Care staff at St. Boniface Hospital (SBH) did to try to bring Denis through his devastating cardiac events.
In lieu of flowers, consider planting a tree in his memory, donating to SBH Foundation (Cardiac) or to a charity of your choice.
A funeral service will be Sunday, March 3, 2024, at 2:30 p.m., Westworth United Church, 1750 Grosvenor Ave., Winnipeg, MB.

Our sincerest condolences to Gladys and all the family. I always had fond memories of Keg from our younger days, especially cruising around the country roads in the Super Bee “checking the crops”. He was larger than life in many ways. Another one gone too soon. We’ll miss you. - Posted by: Gerald & Erika Arcand (Old friend ) on: Feb 17, 2024

My condolences to you, Gladys and to your whole family on the loss of your dear husband and father. I remember gratefully the time you helped make our daughter's 13th birthday special. At one time, the McClellands referred to you and Denis as Gladys and "Keg". Among the tears, I am sure you will find time for lots of remembering especially of the fun times. - Posted by: Mary McNab (friend of the family) on: Feb 17, 2024

Please accept my most sincere condolences, Gladys & family. I have fond memories of Denis as a loving / fun-loving, joyful soul. Things will not be same for you (for us) now, but our faith allows us to rejoice for him ... he is in the arms of our Lord and Saviour. Eternal Joy! What more can one ask for. You will be in my prayers, that you can accept peacefully this change in your earthly plans. One day at a time. Much love ... - Posted by: Annette Bonomo (cousin) on: Feb 17, 2024
