RONALD ALLEN MEISSNER
It is with love and profound sadness, but wonderful memories that we announce Ron’s passing at home, with his loving wife by his side, on February 17, 2024, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Remaining to forever cherish Ron’s memory are his loving wife Mandy; his brother Ken, nephew Richard, niece Darlene; sister-in-law Susan; sister Linda (Larry), nephews, Jeff (Andrea) and Darryl (Christine); sister-in-law Maria (Tony), nephews, George (Jennifer), John (Sonya), and many other cherished family and friends.
Ron was predeceased by his parents: father Roy and his mother Susan (nee Klassen); father-in-law Mirko, mother-in-law Stana, brother-in-law Mitch.
Ron developed a strong work ethic at a young age, he helped build his first rec room with his dad when he was 16 years old. After high school he started his lifelong career with CNR as a machinist while always working side jobs, building decks, fences and rec rooms for family and friends. As Ron honed his “Jack of all trades skills”, he liked to help everyone with whatever repairs they needed. When friends had problems, they would say, “Just call Ron”.
In 1995, Ron met Mandy, the love of his life. Ever the romantic they married in Hawaii in 2001.
Ron retired from CNR after 35 years as a machinist at the age of 55. He then decided to attend RRC Polytech and he received his Red Seal Millwright ticket and worked out of Local 1443.
After retiring in 2004, Ron built a home in Grand Marais where he and Mandy spent their summers. They were fortunate to spend the next 14 winters travelling through Mexico and the Southern U.S.
On behalf of Ron, his wife would like to express her sincere gratitude to Dr. Shantanu Banerji and his wonderful staff for the exceptional care, kindness, and friendship they provided Ron for the past six and a half years. She would also like to thank Palliative Care and his RN, his buddy Richard for all their compassionate care.
As per Ron’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A funeral service celebrating his life will be held on Friday, March 8, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street.
As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Ron’s name to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation in support of Dr. Shantanu Banerji cancer research, www.cancercarefdn.mb.ca, 204-787-4143.

Our most sincere condolences to Mandy, the love of his life (as he often stated) and to immediate family and friends. We are devastated and saddened by the loss of our Dear Friend. Ron was a determined, talented, loyal individual who made a positive difference in the lives of all who knew him. We believe his most significant attributes were his persistent attitude in accomplishing and completing a plan or task and in acquiring new skills. From the moment he was diagnosed with cancer (6+ years) Ron made it his mission to leave Mandy prepared for life without him. This determination kept him focused and occupied while they both worked together to make their new house a beautiful home. We consider ourselves fortunate and treasure the times we spent together over the years…..Grand Beach / Transcona / Cabo! He was our hero and will be sadly missed. RON, you loved and were loved! Till we meet again…..Mary & Brian - Posted by: Mary & Brian Neil (Friends) on: Mar 06, 2024

Mandy. Very sorry to hear about Ron’s passing. We will always remember the fun theme parties you guys had (I’m sure I have pics in my boxes of photos and will look through them). Unfortunately we can’t make the service but hopefully we can celebrate his life at the lake. Roger & Audrey. - Posted by: Roger & Audrey Batchelor (Friends) on: Feb 28, 2024

Our deepest condolence to Mandy, Ron’s family and friends.Ron was full of life and enjoyed family and friends to the fullest always offering to help in anyway he could. I first met Ron when we moved into our home on Lawndale across the back lane from Ron in 1980. We became instant friends. He would look after our dog Blue while we were at work. His home was always open to us. When I had my daughter Courtney, he brought us home from the hospital. He was later my son, Kyle’s Godfather and was instrumental in getting him into an electrical apprenticeship The last few years were a struggle for Ron as he fought a brave battle with cancer. Despite his illness he worked hard to make Mandy’s life a little easier after he was gone. He loved her dearly and worried about how she would manage. Thank you Mandy for taking such good care of Ron always being there for him. We will all miss him but will have fond memories to hold on to. Love Linda, Gary, Courtney and Kyle RIP Ron until we meet again. - Posted by: Linda Humphreys (Friend) on: Feb 25, 2024

So many fond memories of midnight Horsie or Sequence card games at his kitchen table or sitting around the campfire hearing countless lores of childhood adventures. Ron's was certainly renowned as a skilled tradesman and always there to lend hand and offer advice in others projects including my own. But his skills weren't limited to carpenters squares and hammers. I admired his passion to learn new things. He wasn't afraid to embrace and try out the latest technologies. Ron loved music and was an accomplished two-stepper. When a song inspired him, he'd bring others on board including myself to share his inspiration on stage at the annual September Lip Sync. Just mentioning Soggy Bottom Boys or Hooked on a Feeling will put a smile on my face forever more. Thanks Ron! - Posted by: Glenn L (Friend) on: Feb 24, 2024

Our deepest condolences to Mandy & the Meissner family. Over the years we were fortunate to have spent many holidays with Ron (Grand Beach, Hawaii Mazatlan & Puerto Vallarta. We also did some camping ( though I believe Mandy may have done some arm twisting ) it was just great! Rick & Eleanor. Ron & I met in grade one & have been close friends ever since. We got to spend a lot of time together on Saturdays. Our fathers would take us for walks (we always ended up at the Transit Hotel ). Our fathers would be in the beer parlor, discussing world events. Ron & I would get to watch Horse Opera on tv in the lobby. Hawkins cheesiest & soft drinks were supplied. It was great, we got to watch tv & help the vendor man carry & pile empties. (we were going to be vender men when we got older) Walking to school with Ron was always an adventure. Ron was my go to guy for most things. Always saying, Rick I don’t know why you don’t keep up with technology? Ron wasn’t afraid to give you hell, but it was worth it, as I sat back & watched him do the job. We stayed good friends all these years. Till we meet again. Rick. - Posted by: Rick Presonka (Life life look long friends represonka) on: Feb 24, 2024
