Late in the evening on Monday, February 19, at Calvary Place Personal Care Home PCH), Walter Ploegman, 96, husband, father, and grandfather, of Winnipeg, peacefully entered into paradise with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
He leaves to mourn his sons, Derek (Glenda), Peter (Janet), Yardley (Cindy), and granddaughters, Mandy, Naomi and Rose. Walter was predeceased by his wife Helena and his grandson Christopher.
Walter left the Netherlands on June 14, 1951, to start his life in Canada and is remembered for his faithfulness, singing praises to God in the Calvary Temple choir with his deep baritone voice, and his stories of working in the Dutch army with deployments in Indonesia and Egypt. He will be greatly missed. Special thank you to the Calvary Place PCH and Irene Baron Eden Centre staff for going above and beyond to improve Walter’s quality of life.
The Celebration of his Life will be in Winnipeg on Saturday, March 2, 2024, in Springs Church at 725 Lagimodiere Blvd., 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Jeff Romas. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Build the Future New Building Campaign https://springschurch.com/donations/
