DAVID BALFOUR JONES

August 16, 1948 - January 23, 2024

David Balfour Jones passed away peacefully on January 23, 2024 in Winnipeg, MB. After years of health challenges, Dave never lost his sense of humour. He was tenacious and stubborn, with a practical non-nonsense attitude towards life.

Dave was predeceased by his parents, Norah and Balfour Jones. He is survived by his children, Heather, Sean and Stephen, as well as his beloved grandchildren, Hannah, Connor, Emma and Ray. He also leaves behind many friends and family, like the Nowaks, Stilwells, Michies and many more.

Dave proudly served in the Canadian Armed Forces for 16 years. He then went on to work for Environment Canada until he retired. Dave had a passion for sports and was a coach and referee for hockey, football and baseball for many years. Dave could fix and build anything, and was always tinkering with cars, home renovations or electronics. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed travelling to different courses with friends. He loved music, particularly The Eagles, Meatloaf and The Beach Boys.

Dave touched many lives and will be remembered with love by those that knew him. A memorial will be held for Dave later in 2024. Arrangements made by Wojcik’s Funeral Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Joseph’s Marquerite or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
