Peacefully on Monday, February 26, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family, Gerald passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 69.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years Karen Freund; his daughters, Kerry (Clayton) Starkell, and Karla Freund (Scott Walls); and his grandchildren, Will, Alex, Kenleigh, Clara, and Seth. He is also survived by his mother Linda Freund; sisters, Arlene (Walter) Payjack, and Donna Freund (Steve); and brother Brad Freund (Dee).
Gerald was predeceased by his daughter Kristin Chaban; his father Roy Freund; and his sister-in-law Karen Freund.
There will be no formal service as he would prefer a much more casual get together. A Celebration of Life for Gerald will take place at a later date. Details to follow through social media.
Hug your loved ones dearly, take the photos, and cherish the time you have together as tomorrow is never promised.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

Gerald and I went to David Livingstone School together. I remember we collected and traded cards and also played marbles. He had a paper route and I would often help him. My family lived at 253 Pritchard Ave. I eventually moved away and we lost touch. Hey Donna do you still bounce off the couch while singing and humming?
