THERESA (TERRY) IRENE BUNN

(nee MORRISSEAU)

June 28, 1948 - March 14, 2024

With profound sadness and much love, we announce the peaceful passing of Theresa (Terry) Irene Bunn (nee Morrisseau), our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, great-aunt, great-great-aunt, and friend, at 75 years of age.

Theresa was predeceased by her parents, Lawrence and Lillian Morrisseau, her in-laws, Frank and Annie Bunn, siblings, Val, Donna, Larry, infant brothers, Adrian, Peter, and Paul, nieces, Merrily and Tracey, nephew Michael, and great-nephew Phoenix.

Left to cherish Theresa’s memory are her husband of 51 years, Lloyd Bunn, her three children, Tyler, Erin, and Brooke Bunn, grandson Vincent Senavitch, siblings, Lesley (Liz), Deborah, Marvin, Kimberly, and Claude Morrisseau, her loyal dogs, Io and Floppy, and numerous family members and friends.

Theresa was known as an intelligent, thoughtful, caring, and feisty woman, always ready to defend those she loved. She was a residential school survivor, having attended the Fort Alexander Residential School. In spite of her time there, she was very proud of being Indigenous and spoke Anishinaabemowin fluently. Theresa held a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Winnipeg and had a career which encompassed many roles, including Teacher, Librarian, Case Management Officer, and Resource Coordinator. In her later years, she enjoyed watching murder mystery programs, reality shows and collecting globes. Theresa also loved to spend time with her family playing board, card, and dice games, and doing puzzles most weekends. She was fond of casino trips to the US, although she never won much. She delighted in collecting and trying out new recipes, with often mixed results. Theresa was a very sociable person and loved visiting family and friends during events and always appreciated when relatives would stop in for a visit. Theresa was sincerely loved by all those who knew her, she was always honest, kind, and generous with her time and resources, and will be truly missed.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Selkirk Regional Health Centre and the many individuals who provided support to the family.

Pallbearers will be Nolan and Frank Morrisseau, Dylan Lavoie, Kelly and Deejay Zacharias, and Ralph Bruyere Jr.

In keeping with her wishes, there was a one-night wake on Friday, March 15, 2024, which began at 12:00 noon at the St. Alexander Roman Catholic Church in Sagkeeng First Nation.

A final viewing will begin at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2024, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Alexander Roman Catholic Church presided over by Father Augustine, cremation to follow and interment at a later date.
