WILLIAM (BILLY) RALPH MCCOLLUM

The family of William (Billy) Ralph McCollum is heartbroken to announce his passing on February 13, 2024 at the age of 73 years. Billy was a talented, creative, and hard working man. From driving trucks to heavy equipment repair to finally in his retirement years, excelling at carpentry and woodworking. Billy was not a people person to say the least but he could tolerate them to a degree. His place of peace, tranquility and his love for the simpler life was instilled in him from birth, being raised at Reflection Lake Resort. Billy was always working on something. From building computers to reading, finally building his dream cave when he retired. Middle age found this guy proudly holding a baby girl named Amanda that he adored and learned from her, how precious life was. Family life added a smile and a new chapter to Dad’s life. Sharing in that chapter was also his step-daughter Bonny that provided Dad with the ability to shake his head, laugh and share advice and wisdom that is carried close to their hearts by both his girls to this day. Life was good. Dad’s health declined in recent years and as tough as he was, he couldn’t rally back from it this time. He passed away peacefully. As per his wishes, cremation has taken place. Mourning his loss is his daughter Amanda (Aaron), step-daughter Bonny (AJ) and long time friend Glenda. He is also remembered by his brother Laurie, his three grandchildren Emma, Brooklyn, and Jake, as well as his two great-grandchildren Amelia and Joey. He will be greatly missed by all of us, including all of his nephews. Predeceased by his parents and sister-in-law Sharryn. Until we meet again, keep your arms around us, keep tying those flies and enjoy casting that rod up there, rest in peace Dad.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Dad, It's almost been a whole year, I've secretly been dreading this day for the past month especially. My life as I knew it ended that day, whoever I was up until that point in time died with you too when my world stopped turning. I felt it in my bones, heart and every fiber of my being and I don't believe I will ever forget that life altering day or the weeks following it. Since you've been gone I have spent more days than I would like admit feeling the regret, hurt, anger, love and all of the other things that come with grief. With that I have learned the value of the simple things in life, the sunrise and sunset, the peace of isolation. I have always felt far away from you living in a different province and although you are farther away now than before I take every small sign as a sign that you are near and it provides me with the strength and courage to keep pushing on every day. I miss you more and more everyday and have reminders of you everywhere so that I will never forget the love we shared. Thank you for everything. I miss and love you so much Dad. - Posted by: Amanda (Daughter) on: Feb 09, 2025
