WENDY ELAINE WOOD

January 17, 1951 - March 6, 2024

Wendy was born on January 17, 1951, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and passed away on March 6, 2024, at the age of 73.

Wendy was predeceased by her parents, Ian and Dorothy, with whom she spent many great times during their retirement.

Wendy is survived by her brother Larry, who lives in Calgary. She is also survived by 14 loving grandnieces and nephews and one great-grandnephew.

As a young woman, Wendy was an aspiring gymnast, and she received recognition at all levels. She excelled on the floor. Unfortunately, an injury to her knees forced her from competition.

Wendy spent her summers at Otter Falls Resort, where she helped run the Gold Acres General Store. In her spare time there, she achieved many swimming certificates.

After graduation, Wendy joined the newly constructed Seven Oaks General Hospital in Winnipeg. She enjoyed the beginning of her career as a department administrator. She remained there for eight years before accepting a position in Driver Training and Education at Manitoba Public Insurance, where she stayed for 23 years.

During her retirement, Wendy often visited Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen, Minnesota with many friends, but her most enjoyable times were spent with Olwen Kempson, her dear friend of 30 years. They met at MPI in 1988. They were great friends through and through and Olwen stayed by Wendy's side until the end. The family is so thankful she was there to offer such comfort.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the palliative care unit at Grace Hospice for its support.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
