NORMAN MAURICE GIRARDIN
Norman, our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and Friend, passed away at 16:05 on Wednesday, March 27. It would be important to him to note the exact date and time.
Born the fifth child to George and Isabel Girardin of Oak Bluff, he is survived by his wife Patty (nee Smith) and daughters, Allison (Daniel) Polinsky and Margeaux Girardin (Ryan Tustin) along with the little lights of his life, his grandchildren, June Tustin and Eli Polinsky.
Norman moved to River Heights in 1965 and remained a resident until his passing. As a youth, he attended St. John Brebeuf, River Heights, Grant Park, and Kelvin Schools.
A lifelong Canadiens fan he excelled in sports himself, playing and later coaching Junior B level hockey and refereeing in the Winnipeg Minor Hockey and Junior B leagues.
He was early into computer programming at Herzing College in the 1970s, paving way for a career in programming and IT. Norman retired in 2021 after a fulfilling 24 years working for Price Industries.
An intelligent man of few words with a strong work ethic, he was a warehouse of historic dates, events, anniversaries, and names. He was a true audiophile, with a deep appreciation for bands like The Beatles, John Fogerty, The Guess Who, and Neil Young.
The family gratefully thanks the Health Sciences Centre Emergency team and ICU department for their valiant efforts.
A Celebration of Life will be held with family and friends in the summer. Donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba.

I lost contact with Norm years ago but recall trudging the halls of Grant Park High along with Norm in the 60's as well as attending many renowned River Heights parties of the day. Most notably however we were teammates on the Broadway Golden Buzzards ball hockey championship team back in the 70's and 80's. Norm was a rock solid person both on and off the ice. Another good one gone. My condolences to the Girardin family. - Posted by: Doug Anthony (old Buzzards teammate) on: Apr 18, 2024

Was sad to hear about Norm's passing. I had to opportunity to work with him for a number of years at Price. Whenever I needed computer help or unable to access some software, he was my go-to. Whenever there were donuts available in the office, we always made sure to give each other a heads up. Had to make sure we both got one, whether it was a honey cruller or one with sprinkles. His final year at Price I had to chance to work closely with him so he can train me on some of his duties. Even with the millions of questions I had, he would always be so patient and make sure to answer them all :) Such a great fella. Miss you Norm. - Posted by: Krystal (Dixon) Tucker (Co-worker & Friend) on: Apr 15, 2024

Enjoyed playing hockey with Norm at River Heights. My hockey memories are now greatly diminished as Norm was the only one who could remember all our games, goals, assists, play by play highlights, etc. Miss you Norm. Alan Hill - Posted by: Alan Hill (Friend) on: Apr 15, 2024
