It is with love and sadness the family announces the untimely passing of Stephen Wayne Janz on April 14, 2024 at the age of 38.
Steve was predeceased by his father Wayne; his grandparents Howie and Lee Janz; Ken and Rita Johnson; aunties Fran and Linda; and uncles Jack, Dan and Pep. He will be lovingly remembered by his mother Susie; his brother David; his uncles, Ken (Colette), Bruce (Barb), Lyle (Jackie); Auntie Debbie; and cousins, Michael (Lara), Brian (Jenna), Stephanie (Dave), Laura, Brooke, Jennifer, Dale and Kristy.
Steve was raised in St. James and attended Strathmillan School, Bruce Middle School and Silver Heights Collegiate. During these years, Steve made many friends, both at school and with his involvement in local baseball and hockey teams. He was an avid sports fan and thoroughly enjoyed watching the Winnipeg Jets and the Detroit Red Wings, the Blue Bombers, and loved NFL Sundays. He also enjoyed golfing with his Dad and their vacations together in Mexico.
Born on June 2, 1985 Steve had a lifetime of health issues related to his heart.
Many thanks to the WFPS, the Winnipeg Police and to Lindsay Friesen for their compassion and kindness during this difficult time.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Steve’s name can be made to St. Boniface Hospital or the Children’s Hospital of Winnipeg.

I knew Steve since we were younger than school age. Grew up on the same street back to pre-elementary days, went to the same schools.
