Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLAURENCE FRANCOIS HILEY
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Laurence Hiley, at the age of 82. He will be missed and cherished by his wife Karen of nearly 54 years, sons Michael (Gillian) and Jonathon (Krystal), as well as grand fur-children Mika and Freya. He is survived by his brother John (Shirley) and many nieces and nephews. Laurence is predeceased by his sisters Dorothy, Irene, and Jean.
Laurence graduated from the University of Manitoba in 1963 from the faculty of engineering. He served passionately as a civil engineer and manager with Manitoba Hydro for over 30 years, retiring in 2004. Retirement afforded him time to pursue the hobbies he enjoyed such as curling, golf, and spending time with his loved ones. Laurence was a kind and humble man, always willing to help neighbours and friends with his broad technical expertise. He loved animals and could frequently be seen walking his dog in Assiniboine Forest.
His family would like to thank the dedicated staff at West Park Manor for the excellent care, compassion, and understanding they provided during his residence.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or the Winnipeg Humane Society.
At his request, a private Celebration of Life will be held.

I would like to express my condolences to Laurence's family. I worked with Laurence at Manitoba Hydro for years, most notably on the MH team that re-negotiated the Burntwood Nelson Agreement. Laurence was an honest, no non-sense member of our team whose experience and opinions were respected by all. He will be sorely missed. - Posted by: Don Rogalsky (Friend ) on: May 04, 2024
