Lyn McCulloch, never Evelyn Edith (unless you wanted a swat) or Mrs. McCulloch (that was her mother-in-law), wife of Brian Russell McCulloch, passed away on May 10, 2024, after a lengthy illness. Lyn died at the age of 78, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Estevan, SK, where she had relocated to be closer to family.
Lyn was born on February 2, 1946, in Souris, MB to Alfred Lambert Mitchell and Evelyn Edwards Forster. After attending Catholic school in Brandon, MB, Lyn went on to Winnipeg, MB to pursue a career in hair dressing. Lyn married Brian on July 1, 1967, at St. Paul’s United Church, Souris. They lived on Brian’s family farm before purchasing a home in Souris, where they raised their two children. Cory Mark arrived in August 1969 and Koreen MayAnne in June 1971. In 1987, Brian and Lyn made the decision to move to Taber, AB for Brian to pursue his career in irrigation systems. Over the years they moved to Calgary, Strathmore, Viking, and finally returned to Taber, where Lyn helped Brian in his tarp-strap business until Brian passed away in October 2015.
Lyn was an avid crafter. In particular, she loved cross stitching and crocheting. Her family members are the happy recipients of many of her special projects. Brian and Lyn took pride in supporting and sponsoring their grandchildren in their athletics; including hockey schools and a team volleyball trip to Cuba, as well as purchasing a beautiful piano to encourage music lessons. Lyn generously supported her grandchildren financially in furthering their post-secondary education. Her support enriched the lives of her grandchildren and gave each of them a head-start in life by avoiding student debt. Lyn enjoyed doting on her great-granddaughter and was excited recently to add two step-great-grandsons to the family.
Lyn is survived by her two children, Cory McCulloch of Calgary, AB and Koreen (Randy) Muir of Glen Ewen, SK; three grandchildren, Marina (Duncan) Luck of Kitimat, BC, Cassidy (Matthew) Phillips of Moose Jaw, SK, and Austin (Jacqui) Muir of Edmonton, AB; great-granddaughter, Kaydence Phillips and step-great-grandsons, Orion and Finn Luck. She is also survived by her sisters, Lorna Hart of Victoria, BC and Frances Racher of Brandon, MB, as well as a brother Wayne McFarlane of Sooke, BC. Lyn was predeceased by her parents, Lambert and Evelyn Mitchell, her husband Brian McCulloch, and her brother Vincent McFarlane.
At Lyn’s request, no funeral service will be held. Hall Funeral Services in Estevan is caring for Lyn's family - Dustin Hall, Funeral Director.
