CELEBRATION OF LIFE

Please join the family in celebrating the life of Jim Heighton at the Finish Line Banquet Room, Assiniboia Downs on Monday, May 27, 2024, at 5:00 p.m.

Jim is lovingly remembered and sadly missed by many family, friends, teammates and co-workers.

Former Winnipeg Blue Bomber 1971 to 1979 DE. Jim spent a very fulfilling 14 years with the CFL total including BC Lions, Winnipeg, Hamilton and retired with the Alouettes in 1984.

Jim was both a lifelong athlete and a Thoroughbred racing enthusiast and supporter. Jim devoted his love and passion to the Manitoba Horse Racing Industry. He bred, raised and raced many Manitoba Breds. He and his family spent many days and nights at the race track. Even after his last horse was gone he never lost his love for the track and frequented almost daily for breakfast in the grandstand.

Light snacks and refreshments to be served at 5:00 p.m.. Cash bar will be open.

Speeches and slideshow to begin about 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to share stories and memories and commemorate the very full life of Jim Heighton.

We welcome all former teammates and friends of dads to join us to share memories and old stories.

There will be a special race presentation approximately 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. (race #3 or 4) in Jim's honour after the celebration.

We hope you can stay and join us for that as well and a fun evening of a night at the races.
