VLASTA NESETOVA LAJTAI

Vlasta Nesetova Lajtai, beloved member of the Winnipeg community, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2024, at the age of 85. Vlasta was born on February 15, 1939, in Rokycany, Czech Republic, and her life was marked by kindness, resilience, and a deep commitment to her family and friends.

She is survived by her best friend and husband, Dr. Emery Lajtai; her daughter, Andrea Lajtai Mottola, and son-in-law, John Mottola; her brother, Pavel Neset; her niece, Martina, and her husband, Pavel Mossoczy; and her beloved extended family in the Czech Republic.

A devoted wife, mother, sister, and aunt, Vlasta's family was the center of her world. She cherished every moment spent with her loved ones, creating memories that will truly be treasured. Her warm smile and compassionate nature endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She had a remarkable ability to bring people together and her home was always open to friends and family, where she would share her delicious cooking and unwavering hospitality.

Vlasta found solace and joy in her garden, where she cultivated beautiful flowers and lush greenery, nurturing life with her green thumb and a keen eye for beauty. As a published geological engineer who possessed a spirit of exploration, she was always eager to embark on outdoor adventures.

An avid patron of the arts, Vlasta had a deep appreciation for the theatre, symphony, and all forms of artistic expression. She found inspiration and delight in the creative endeavours of others, and her love for the arts enriched her life with beauty, culture, and meaning.

Vlasta's passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her, but her spirit will live on in the memories she created and the lives she touched. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the first responders, doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals who cared for her with such compassion.

A celebration of Vlasta's life will be held later. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Winnipeg Foundation in her memory.

May Vlasta rest in peace, knowing that she leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and kindness that will endure for eternity.
